Banja

Banja is the name of a Russian bath, which is similar to the classic sauna. In the middle of the room is the stove, which is fired usually with wood. It is carried out at a temperature of about 40° – 50° C and a relatively high humidity. As a special feature you knock yourself or each other with bundles of previously soaked birch twigs from the body. Very often even alcoholic drinks like vodka or beer are poured into infusion water in Russia.
